TORSBY FINNSKOGSCENTRUM, PART of Värmlands Museum, has moved into a former preschool that has undergone a major facelift. Architects Per Bornstein and Andreas Lyckefors were engaged to transform the old building into a museum about the burn-beating Finns who worked the forested areas of northern Värmland in the early 17th century.
The new museum has a façade of charred boards enclosed by rough logs sourced from the nearby forest. The palisade-like structure is punctured by boxes that offer seating and let light flood in.«
